Aurora

Aurora Aksnes Born June 15, 1996, in Stavanger and is professionally known as Aurora sometimes stylized in uppercase as AURORA is a Norwegian artist and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, launched in May, 2015 by Decca Records to great approval from music journalists and media. Half the World Away, by the Oasis group for John Lewis Christmas advertisements and Nature Boy, by Nat King Cole are among the most well-known covers by the artist. Katy Perry, who endorsed the song Runaway with her voice, gave an additional boost to the music. It was her birthday celebration. Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is that of locating the piano she had in her attic and being awed by the sounds it would make. Parents May-Britt as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to explore music and not just as a profession or a hobby, but for growth. To achieve this she started writing her own songs that were her own creations. Alongside Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. Her decision to begin performing the songs she wrote publicly after her mom suggested they can help other people, to not become famous through her music, but rather to help the people around them understand the significance of what they do and how they impact the world. As a young girl she began to learn the piano and at nine, started writing songs. It wasn't until she was 14 when she first told her parents. Aurora wasn't just a fantasy of childhood. The singer claims that she is a fan of writing songs. Music to her is the best way to feel anything.
